Description
Chelsea Young maintains a broad practice in corporate/commercial and securities law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate finance, and corporate governance matters. She is engaged in a diverse corporate/commercial practice for both private and publicly-held companies, advising clients on a wide range of transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings, and regulatory compliance with Canadian securities law and stock exchange requirements.

Chelsea also has a dedicated Indigenous legal matters practice, working with natural resource and energy companies and First Nations, including providing strategic advice on Indigenous equity participation models in development projects and other economic participation arrangements with First Nations. In addition, Chelsea works with Indigenous groups, organizations, non-profits and charities advising on corporate/commercial and governance matters.

Chelsea is of Inuit ancestry and grew up in various communities in the North West Territories and Nunavut, which provides her with a meaningful understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions. Her background and experiences living in Northern communities enable her to bring a culturally sensitive and valuable perspective to her work with industry and First Nations.

Chelsea is a graduate of the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia and holds a Certificate in Fundamentals of Indigenous Peoples and Canadian Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to law school, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Carleton University. Before joining Fasken, Chelsea worked for a global law firm and Imperial Oil.
