Description
While working for a broad range of clients, Harold covers numerous facets of tax practice, including personal and corporate income tax planning, estate planning, goods and services tax, sales and land taxes, international tax, tax litigation, and dispute resolution. He acts on a wide variety of corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, share and asset purchases, corporate reorganizations, and leveraged buyouts. In addition, he helps establish employee profit sharing and stock purchase and option plans. He specializes in providing tax-effective structures for wealth maximization.

Harold also has extensive experience in providing legal services to dental, medical, and other professionals and their practices, including incorporations, practice sales, leases, and the preparation of partnership, association, shareholder, and associate agreements.

Harold’s multi-faceted background, extensive experience, and broad legal practice enable him to recognize the underlying tax issues in any business transaction. Plus, as a member of the Meritas Canada Tax Group—an affiliation of over 30 tax and estate planning lawyers practising with law firms across Canada—Harold can call on an unparalleled depth of tax experience to tackle even the most complex tax issues.

In addition to the business aspect of his practice, Harold provides legal advice to numerous non-profit and charitable organizations, as well as public and private foundations. He has also instructed on tax and business law for the Bar Admission Course.

Like others at Brazeau Seller Law, Harold is actively involved in the local community. He is currently on the board of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa. He is a past chair of the Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation.

Harold attended Wilfrid Laurier University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (with honours) in 1985, and the University of Toronto, from which he received his law degree in 1988.
