Michael F. Ledgett centres his practice on corporate and commercial law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, public private partnerships, smart cities and the transportation industry.

His corporate commercial and transactional practice serves businesses (domestic and foreign), governments and their agencies and not-for-profit organizations.

His P3/Smart Cities practice serves governments and their agencies, as well as private sector developers, operators, lenders and investors on P3 and Smart Cities projects.

His transportation industry practice serves primarily the air, bus, port, rail, transit and truck sectors of the industry. His practice also embraces the emerging world of autonomous vehicles. His transportation practice serves governments and their agencies, as well as private sector participants in the industry.

Michael is a past member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP), a national not-for-profit non-partisan, member-based organization with broad representation from across the public and private sectors. CCPPP is a proponent of evidence-based public policy in support of P3s, facilitates the adoption of international best practices, and educates stakeholders and the community on the economic and social benefits of public private partnerships.

Michael is a past member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB). CCAB is strategically positioned to have an impact on facilitating positive and sustainable relations between the Canadian businesses generally and the Aboriginal owned and operated businesses.

Michael is a past-member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and Past Chair of the Ontario Chapter of the ICD. ICD is a not-for-profit, member-based professional association representing Canadian directors and boards across the for-profit, not-for-profit, and government sectors.

Michael is former Honorary Counsel to the Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC). CUTRIC’s objective is to make Canada a leader in transit-related research, development and innovation through industry-academic collaborations.

Michael is Honorary Counsel to the Ontario Public Transit Association (OPTA). OPTA is the Ontario forum for public transportation, representing the views of its public transit system and business supplier membership to governments and other agencies.
