John is a partner of Walsh LLP, father, husband, and avid cyclist. A born and raised Calgarian, John’s passion for people and this City is reflected through his care for his client’s needs and his volunteer effort to help seniors.

With over 20 years of legal practice in business law and an emphasis in commercial real estate matters, John acts for clients that are involved in complex transactions which are often in the multi-million dollar range.

John successfully combines his legal expertise with the experience of sitting on the City of Calgary Planning Commission, City of Calgary Subdivision Appeal Board, and being General Counsel to a large condominium developer. This combined experience allows John to not only help his clients with their immediate needs, but to proactively anticipate other issues. Through an exceedingly client-centred relationship, John ends up being more of a trusted advisor than just the client’s lawyer.

John’s personal interests are as diverse as his professional practice. In carrying on his parents’ legacy, he has developed a passion to provide care to senior citizens. John is a Trustee of the Wing Kei Care Centre which currently provides over 300 long term accommodations to seniors in Calgary.

In his spare time, John enjoys getting out to ride his bicycle and participates in several gran fondo races a year. When asked about his bicycle collection and how many bicycles are enough, John says the number follows the mathematical formula of N+1.
