Description
Art analyzes and provides solutions for intricate and challenging legal issues in both transactional and litigation contexts.
As the firm’s Opinions Counsel, Arthur Peltomaa provides advice and assistance to lawyers, clients of the firm and to members of the profession generally, including corporate general counsel and their staff.

Art’s practice ranges from advice on corporate governance and shareholder dispute matters to assistance with the design of innovative transaction structures, including domestic and cross-border merger and acquisition transactions and insolvency restructurings. He has a special interest in issues relating to lawyers’ professional responsibility and conflict of interest regulation.

A former law clerk to the Chief Justice of Ontario and a former teaching fellow at the Osgoode Hall Law School, Art has also worked as a consultant to the Law Reform Commission of Canada. Art is the author of Annual Review of Corporate Law (Carswell, 1996), a book on developments in Canadian corporate law, and has written papers and articles on a broad range of legal topics. He is recognized in Lexpert’s Guide to the 100 Most Creative Lawyers in Canada.
