Alex Ognibene is a senior associate in Fasken’s award-winning Labour, Employment & Human Rights (LEHR) practice group. He advises employers in all areas of workplace law, including wrongful dismissal, human rights, labour, employment standards, and health and safety.

Clients across an array of industries routinely seek Alex for his strategic counsel, responsiveness, and unwavering commitment to advancing their objectives.

With extensive experience advising on labour and employment issues arising in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), Alex brings a high degree of proficiency to drafting employment agreements, negotiating severance packages, and advising on executive compensation and workforce reorganization matters.

A skilled advocate, Alex regularly represents clients before mediators, arbitrators, courts, labour boards, and human rights tribunals, both provincially and federally. Alex has achieved successful outcomes for clients in complex litigation matters and investigations, including, most recently, in securing the dismissal of a judicial review application he argued at the Federal Court.

Alex has honed his industry-specific experience and business acumen through client work assignments in the legal department of an international shipping company and as the interim Director of Labour Relations at a major hospital in Toronto.

Alex is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and a recipient of the 2017-2018 Harold G. Fox litigation scholarship at the Middle Temple in London, United Kingdom.
