Description
Ian Thompson has a general litigation practice with an emphasis on corporate and commercial disputes. Ian has litigated cases involving contractual rights, shareholder oppression, fraud, class actions, competition matters, municipal and regulatory issues and more. He has experience conducting internal investigations, and acts for clients in a broad range of industries, including energy, mining, real estate, financial services, technology and agriculture.

Ian has motion, application, trial and appellate experience before multiple courts in Ontario, and has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada. He also represents clients in confidential mediations and arbitrations, and has been involved with cross-border disputes in jurisdictions within the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.

Ian is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Toronto Lawyers’ Association, and the Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations. Prior to joining Bennett Jones as an associate, Ian summered and articled with the firm.
