Sumit Ahuja was born and raised in Surrey, B.C., where he completed his post-secondary education. He attended the University of British Columbia and obtained his Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Psychology and Sociology in 2006. He thereafter attended Law School in Gold Coast, Australia where he obtained his Juris Doctor Law Degree. After working in Australia after obtaining his degree, he returned to Canada and received his Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee of Accreditation. He has been a lawyer in British Columbia since April 15, 2011.

He has worked for numerous firms in British Columbia and has experience in all levels of Court in the Province and has appeared in the Federal Court of Appeal of Canada. He travels throughout the Province to assist his clients and has appeared in the Supreme Court of Yukon and the Court of Queen’s Bench in Alberta.

He is a Partner at OLG. He is a fierce advocate for his clients. He is a quailed mediator.

Sumit has sat on the board of various organizations. Sumit enjoys pro bono work with Access pro bono and has developed his own pro bono clinics in South Surrey.

Sumit is the founder of #liveBIG Society, which is a not-for-profit organization in British Columbia, raising awareness for issues with addiction. He speaks at local high school, community events. #liveBIG raises funds to send people suffering from addictions to treatment centers and after-care/monitoring programs.

Sumit is in recovery from alcohol and substances since March 2, 2017. His addictions almost took his life. He attended residential treatment in 2017. Since then, he has been an advocate for breaking down stigma associated with mental health and addictions. His focus is on helping people suffering from addiction in hopes of breaking the cultural secrecy that surrounds addiction. He works tirelessly withing the recovery world to assist others who are dealing with personal or family struggles related to addiction and mental health. He uses his personal experiences in life to assist his clients.

He believes very much in forward movement and applying strategy tailored to the needs of his clients.
