Description
Stephen N. Libin is a partner at Branch MacMaster LLP. He applies his background in engineering and business to a diverse practice with an emphasis on resolving complex class action, product liability, general negligence, occupiers’ liability, construction, motor vehicle, professional negligence and environmental disputes. Stephen has trial, motion, application, and appeal experience before all levels of court in Ontario and has appeared before several administrative tribunals.

Stephen joined Branch MacMaster in 2024 after 15 years of practice at a national law firm and a leading insurance defence boutique, where he recently served as lead counsel for defendants in two major class proceedings arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stephen was called to the Ontario bar in 2009. He received his J.D. from the University of Toronto in 2008. Prior to attending law school, Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering Science with distinction from Western University and an Honours of Business Administration with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Outside of the office, Stephen sits on the editorial board of the Toronto Law Journal and regularly presents at continuing legal education seminars. He has volunteered with Pro Bono Ontario providing legal advice and trial representation to low-income Ontario residents and has served as a director on several not-for-profit organizations. Despite being a “reluctant hockey dad”, he can usually be found most evenings driving his three sons to cold rinks around the city.
