Description
Samantha Horn is a partner in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Groups. Her practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital financing. She is highly experienced both in investments and buyout transactions, with particular expertise concerning matters in the life sciences and technology sectors. She operates a market-leading transactional practice in the private equity space, covering a wide range of M&A and financing mandates, along with fund formation experience.
Samantha is a former member of the Management Committee in the Toronto office and formerly served as Co-Head of the Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Groups.
She is a recipient of the 2017 Women’s Executive Network’s Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award in the “Hall of Fame” category and in the “KPMG Professionals” category (2014, 2015 and 2016), recognizing her significant impact to the legal profession and her leadership role within the firm.
Professional Activities
Samantha is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and is a past Chair of the Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee and current Vice-Chair of the Private Equity M&A Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. She served on the Council of the ABA’s Business Law Section from 2010 to 2013. Samantha is also a founding and executive member of the Canadian Women in Private Equity Committee. Samantha is also the Vice-Chair, Governance of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Toronto.
Samantha is a frequent speaker on various panels and at various conferences, including with the American Bar Association at their annual, winter and spring Business Law Section meetings.
Background
During the time she was an associate, Samantha was seconded to Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc., a labour-sponsored venture capital fund, as an investment analyst.
Samantha is a member of the Halton Healthcare Board of Directors overseeing $3.4B in capital projects including the construction of the new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the new expansion of Milton District Hospital, as well as construction on Georgetown Hospital. She was previously on the board of the Kids Internet Safety Alliance (KINSA) and the Oakville Gymnastics Club.
