Description
Nick Avis is an associate in the Insolvency and Restructuring Group. His practice focuses on financial restructurings, corporate reorganizations and refinancings, and special situations involving business distress. Nick has acted for corporate debtors, secured and unsecured creditors (including creditor committees), purchasers and court-appointed officers. He has extensive experience structuring transactions and acting under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

Professional Activities
Nick is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Turnaround Management Association. He volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario.

Background
Nick was a financial restructuring associate at a leading law firm in London, England, where he gained significant experience structuring complex international transactions. He interned with the Insolvency and Debt Resolution Group at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Washington, D.C., where he focused on insolvency in developing economies.

Nick earned a certification in legal French from Western University.
