Regularly retained to act for some of the world’s leading companies, Lisa provides representation in litigation and advice on regulatory issues. Lisa has extensive experience as lead national counsel in Canadian class action proceedings. She has acted in precedent-setting cases on key issues relating to class action procedure, pre-certification dismissal or discontinuance of class actions, defence recovery of costs, cross-border and multijurisdictional discovery, and settlement. She also advises and represents companies in multijurisdictional investigations and proceedings on matters relating to privacy and data breaches, as well as competition and compliance.
Frequently acting as lead counsel in international and cross-border regulatory, cartel and conspiracy investigations and litigation, Lisa has extensive experience defending investigations by Canada’s Competition Bureau and the Director of Public Prosecutions. She has defended many recent class action cases alleging anti-competitive activities relating to auto parts, air cargo and passengers, aftermarket auto lights, hydrogen peroxide and chocolate.
Lisa is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She has been involved in a number of domestic and international arbitrations, and has acted as assistant to the tribunal in significant international arbitrations. Lisa also taught business dispute resolution as an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School.
