Description
Catalina Karam is an Associate in the Subrogation & Recovery Practice Group at WeirFoulds LLP. She maintains a litigation practice focused on complex recovery actions and disputes involving regulatory frameworks, environmental issues, liability issues, and public law considerations.

Prior to joining WeirFoulds, Catalina practised as Crown Counsel with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, where she worked within the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. In that role, she provided strategic legal advice to government decision makers on environmental assessments and approvals, constitutional law, Aboriginal rights, and the duty to consult.

Catalina has regularly represented the Crown before administrative tribunals and courts, including the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and the Ontario Court of Justice, where she prosecuted environmental offences. Catalina also previously served as a Policy Advisor with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, where she supported legislative and regulatory initiatives related to natural resource management.

During law school, Catalina was a decorated moot competitor, earning Best Overall Team, Best Respondent Pair, and Second Place Factum at the Laskin Moot Court Competition.
