Description
Amy is a Manitoba farm girl, born and raised to understand the value of hard work. After high school, she worked as a legal secretary for 5 years before starting her family. She honed her organizational, time-management, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills as a stay-at-home mother to her 6 boys. Her own marriage came to a difficult end in 2009. She experienced, first hand, how challenging this transition can be for families. It was during this painful time in her life that she developed a passion for advocacy and family law – choosing not to be a statistic but a success.

She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Development Studies with a General Diploma in Social Work with Dean’s List Honours in 2012 and moved her family to Windsor to attend law school that fall. During her time at Windsor Law, she became a beacon for many students and faculty. Amy often offered her time, attention, home and even food to anyone who needed to de-stress, distract or just reconnect in a family setting. She earned the respect of her peers through her tenacity, perseverance, perspective and positive attitude. Amy was selected for the family law clerkship in the Ontario Court of Justice with the Honourable Justice Barry Tobin. She also worked for the Legal Assistance of Windsor poverty clinic from 2014 – 2015. Amy graduated in the top 20% of her class.

Amy is a fierce community advocate. She founded a charity, Cuddles Clothing for Kids, in Windsor in 2013, which collects and distributes free clothing and items for children and families. To date over 400 local families have been serviced through this organization, not to mention, families in Fort McMurray, the Philippines, Nigeria and Syria. She has spoken at numerous community events about poverty, domestic abuse, empowering women and the value of sport for children. Amy is the vice-president of the Parent Council of Catholic Central High School and also an active member of her church.

When Amy is not “working” she stays busy as a spectator/cheerleader for her boys’ activities, including football, basketball, baseball, bowling, track and field and drama, or playing with her two Mastiff dogs.
