Marisa Coggin (She/Her/Hers) is a partner in the Insurance group and co-leader of the Corporate group in Toronto. Her practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on corporate and regulatory insurance.

Marisa provides comprehensive legal services to clients in the insurance, banking and financial services sectors. She has experience incorporating and licensing insurance brokerages, managing general agents and establishing captive insurers and branches for foreign insurance companies. She frequently provides guidance on regulatory compliance management, reinsurance and market conduct matters and has served as a chief compliance officer for a foreign insurance company. Additionally, her expertise extends to advising warranty providers and structuring warranty programs.

With a deep understanding of the insurance sector and emerging industry trends, Marisa delivers sound advice on a variety of insurance-related matters. She is skilled in identifying the best course of action and finding options that enhance flexibility while mitigating risk. By equipping her clients with practical solutions tailored to specific problems, Marisa develops solutions that make sense both from a legal and business perspectives. Marisa has completed the Osgoode Certificate in Regulatory Compliance and Legal Risk Management for Financial Institutions and the Canadian Securities Course. In addition, she has written extensively on insurance regulations and is a sought-after public speaker on insurance law.
