Jillian is a partner at Beard Winter LLP who practices insurance defence litigation with a focus on defending lawyers and engaging in loss prevention efforts to prevent actions against lawyers. The foundation for Jillian’s solicitors’ negligence defence practice comes from the many years she has spent acting on behalf of insurers defending accident benefits, tort and general liability claims and she continues to practice in these areas. Jillian has appeared as motion, trial and appellate counsel at all levels of Court in Ontario.

Jillian obtained her Diploma in Honours Standing in political science from the University of Western Ontario in 2000. She obtained her LLB from the University of New Brunswick in 2003. She completed the LLM program specializing in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution at York University’s Osgoode Hall in 2009.

Jillian is an articling principal and has spoken to members of the profession at a number of continuing legal education seminars.
