Description
Ian Trimble is an associate in the Corporate Group. His practice focuses on providing regulatory and commercial counsel to companies regulated by Health Canada, including drug manufacturers and wholesalers, cannabis companies, and companies involved in the marketing and sales of natural health products, food and beverage, cosmetics, and medical devices. He provides strategic counsel on market access and compliance strategies, and helps clients deal with regulatory and pre-clearance agencies. Ian also advises on the regulation of healthcare professionals and the interactions between companies and those professionals.

Ian also advises clients on privacy and data protection matters including privacy matters at the intersection of healthcare and privacy including data protection of patients and the joint responsibilities of healthcare professionals and corporations in the protection of patient data.

Ian also leads the firm’s forced and child labour working group. He has assisted clients in developing strategies to reduce the risk of forced and child labour in their supply chains as well as in complying with Canada’s reporting legislation.

Professional Activities
Ian is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Background
Prior to law school, Ian worked as a pharmacist in Ontario and British Columbia in both hospital and retail settings. He is currently a licensed pharmacist in Ontario. After law school, Ian completed a clerkship at the Federal Court of Canada with the Honourable Justice Roger T. Hughes. While at a previous firm, Ian was seconded to a pharmaceutical company, where he acted as their Canadian counsel.
