Derek Johnson graduated Wilfrid Laurier University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Physical Education with a minor in Biology. Derek then attended Queen’s University in Kingston where he received his LL.B. in 2003. While at Queen’s, Derek, competed in the National Laskin Moot Court Competition in Administrative and Constitutional Law in Quebec City. Derek was called to the bar in 2004 after articling with a national law firm in Ottawa.
Derek joined Giffen LLP after practicing for two years at a national firm in Vancouver and three years as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Ontario. Derek is a member of Giffen LLP’s expanding litigation group and advises his clients in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and administrative law. He is a proud member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and has a wealth of courtroom experience in both the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court.
