Description
David Demirkan is a private practitioner and in-house counsel with a shipowner. His areas of expertise include commercial law, administrative law, litigation, maritime law, labour and employment law, regulatory law, Crown law, and constitutional law.  He has been counsel at several administrative tribunals.  Before joining the public service, he was in private practice as a litigator at McInnes Cooper in Halifax.  He has appeared before numerous courts and administrative tribunals.  David is a member of the bars of Nova Scotia and Ontario.  He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa, Chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Public Sector Lawyers’ Section, Past Chair of the OBA’s Law Practice Management Section, and Past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Civil Litigation Section.  David is also a representative on the Canadian Bar Association's Federal Courts Bench and Bar Liaison Committee.
