Description
Andrew MacDonald is a Partner at WeirFoulds LLP with a civil litigation and advisory practice that includes extensive experience in media and defamation law, aviation law and administrative law.

Andrew acts for and advises leading news media outlets and journalists, including in defamation actions and anti-SLAPP motions, providing pre-publication/broadcast advice, challenging restrictions on public access to court and tribunal proceedings, and assisting with access to information requests. Andrew also has experience in privacy and copyright-related matters and disputes.

In aviation, he represents numerous airlines in commercial, regulatory, and liability litigation and administrative tribunal proceedings, and provides advice relating to aviation regulatory matters and enforcement and compliance investigations, as well more general law governing everyday operations in Canada

He has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, and Court of Appeal; the Supreme Court of Canada; the Federal Court; and administrative tribunals including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Canadian Transportation Agency. Andrew has also acted in proceedings before several other courts, tribunals and inquiries including: the Federal Court of Appeal, the Québec Superior Court, the Canadian Human Rights Commission, the Elliot Lake Inquiry, the Coroner’s Inquest Touching the Death of Ashley Smith, and the Ontario Review Board.
