Description
Margaret Shodeinde is a corporate/commercial lawyer whose practice focuses on banking, including, lending transactions, structured finance and securitization transactions, project finance, banking regulatory and corporate governance. She brings an in-depth understanding of client needs and results-driven service. She is passionate about advocating for women in the law profession.

Margaret provides a wealth of multi-faceted banking and financial services experience to MLT Aikins, with her early career spent at HSBC Bank Canada, a leading Canadian financial institution. Most recently, she served as an associate at a large law firm in Toronto, where she focused her practice on lending transactions, structured finance and securitization transactions, project finance, banking regulatory and corporate governance.

Margaret received the Osgoode Certificate in Contract Management for Construction and Infrastructure Projects in 2019, the same year she was called to the Ontario Bar.

In addition to work experience with HSBC Bank Canada, Margaret had in-house counsel roles at Computershare Trust Company of Canada and Interac Corp before returning to private practice.

Margaret is a strong voice for women in the legal profession and her advocacy reflects her commitment to staying engaged and informed within the legal community. She is a member of Governance Professionals of Canada, Young Women in Law and Women in Securitization (WiS) – an initiative that aims to support women in the structured finance industry.
